VN Video Generation Failed Error

Quick answer
'Video generation failed' means VN couldn't finish writing your export. It's usually low storage, a missing source clip or settings too heavy for the phone: free several GB, switch export to Auto or 1080p and keep VN open until it finishes.

Symptoms
Export runs for a while and then shows 'Video generation failed' or a generic export error. Retrying fails the same way, and no video appears in the gallery.
Why it happens
- Not enough free internal storage
- A source clip was moved, deleted or is only stored in the cloud
- Resolution, FPS or bitrate too high for the phone (often 4K/60fps)
- App sent to the background or screen locked during export
- Outdated app version
- Not signed in to a VN account (one user's export only worked after logging in)
How to fix it
Try these in order — the most common fix is first.
1. Free up storage
- iPhone: Settings > General > iPhone Storage; Android: Settings > Storage
- Delete large unused videos and apps and empty Recently Deleted
- Keep at least 5 GB free for 4K exports
2. Check for missing clips
- Scroll through the timeline and look for black or missing clips
- Download any iCloud or Google Photos clips to the device first
- Replace missing clips, then export again
3. Export with Auto or lower settings
- Tap Export in the top-right of the editor
- Switch to Auto, or in Manual choose 1080p, 30fps and a lower bitrate
- Turn HDR off unless your clips were shot in HDR
4. Keep VN in the foreground
- Don't switch apps or lock the phone while exporting
- Plug in the charger for long exports
5. Restart and update
- Close VN fully and reopen it
- Update VN from the App Store or Google Play and try again
6. Sign in to your VN account
- Open VN's profile/account area and log in
- Export again; at least one user's 'failed' exports started working after signing in
