The 14 Webex problems users hit most often, why they happen, and the fixes that actually work — collected from user reports, forums, and official support docs.
If you can't hear anyone in a Webex meeting, the wrong speaker is usually selected or (on Windows) the Windows Audio service has stalled. Pick the right device in the meeting audio menu, then restart the Windows Audio service.
When others can't hear you in Webex, you are usually muted, the wrong microphone is selected, or the OS is blocking microphone access. Unmute, pick the mic in Webex audio settings, and allow microphone access for Webex.
Webex camera problems on Windows almost always come from one of four things Cisco documents: privacy settings blocking the camera, the camera disabled, another app using it, or a missing driver. Allow camera access, close other video apps, and reinstall the camera driver if Webex says 'Cannot connect to camera'.
On a Mac, Webex can't share your screen until macOS grants it Screen Recording permission. Turn Webex on under System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen Recording, then fully quit (Cmd+Q) and reopen Webex.
If viewers see a black screen when you share in Webex, share the entire screen instead of a single window, then update your graphics driver or turn off hardware acceleration. On iPad, choosing 'Optimize for video' fixed it for some users.
Webex dropping to 'reconnecting' is almost always network-related: VPN routing, weak Wi-Fi, or packet loss. Check status.webex.com, switch to wired Ethernet, and test the same meeting without VPN. Quitting and relaunching Webex clears it for many users.
This message means the host hasn't started the meeting yet, no matter what time it was scheduled. Keep refreshing until the Join button turns green, double-check the time zone, or ask the host to start it or enable join before host.
A Webex meeting stuck on 'Connecting' is usually a network, proxy, or cache problem. Reset the Webex cache (Help > Health Checker > Reset), try another network or browser, and have IT confirm Webex traffic isn't blocked by a firewall or proxy.
Choppy Webex audio or frozen video means packet loss or not enough bandwidth. Webex's own steps: check status.webex.com, run the Health Checker, pause other heavy traffic, and run web.webex.com/network-checker. Turning off background noise removal and VPN fixes it for some users.
Echo in Webex is caused by a participant's speakers feeding into their own mic: someone on both phone and computer audio, or several laptops in one room. Mute everyone, unmute one by one to find the source, and have that person use a headset.
If the Webex App crashes, freezes on a white screen, or won't open, reset its cache (Help > Health Checker > Reset) or clear the cache folder manually. If that fails, run Cisco's Webex removal tool, reinstall, and update your graphics driver if crashes happen when video turns on.
When the Webex mobile app crashes or won't sign in, update it, then reinstall (on Android clear cache and app data first) and switch between Wi-Fi and cellular. If a feature is missing on mobile, check whether it works on desktop or is disabled by your admin.
A missing Webex recording was usually saved locally instead of to the cloud, is still processing, or your account doesn't have cloud recording enabled. Check your computer's Documents folder and the Recordings tab on your Webex site, and ask your admin if the Recordings tab is missing.
If the Webex Change background option is missing or greyed out, your site admin may have disabled virtual backgrounds, or your computer doesn't meet the requirements. If you disappear behind the background, set it to None and back, or check the camera shutter.
