Webex Echo in Meeting
Workaround available Windows, Mac, Phone Updated October 21, 2026
Quick answer
Echo in Webex is caused by a participant's speakers feeding into their own mic: someone on both phone and computer audio, or several laptops in one room. Mute everyone, unmute one by one to find the source, and have that person use a headset.
Most likely fix: Find the source.
Symptoms
You hear your own voice repeated back a moment later, or there's a loud feedback squeal.
Why it happens
- Participant connected with both computer and phone audio
- Multiple devices with active audio in the same room
- Speakers too loud or too close to the microphone
- Laptop speakers used instead of a headset
How to fix it
Try these in order — the most common fix is first.
1. Find the source
- As host, mute all participants
- Unmute people one at a time and listen for echo
- Ask the person causing it to apply the fixes below
2. Use one audio connection
- Disconnect either phone or computer audio, not both
- In shared rooms, keep only one device's mic and speaker on
3. Use a headset
- Switch from laptop speakers to headphones with a mic
- Or lower speaker volume and move the mic away from the speakers
