How to Cancel Box Subscription (and Avoid Renewal Charges)

Symptoms

You were charged for an annual renewal you didn't expect, were charged after cancelling, or can't find how to stop the subscription.

Why it happens

• Plans auto-renew, including annual plans
• Cancellation only takes effect at the end of the service term
• Only the account owner can cancel

How to fix it

Try these in order — the most common fix is first.

1. 1. Cancel from Account Settings

   1. Log in as the account owner
   2. Click your avatar > Account Settings
   3. In Account Details, click Cancel Account, complete the survey and confirm

2. 2. Or downgrade to the free plan

   1. Switch to the free Individual plan to stop paid billing
   2. Get under 10 GB first and remember the 250 MB file limit

3. 3. Request a refund

   1. Email cancel@box.com with your account email and invoice details
   2. Keep the cancellation confirmation and escalate through support if charges continue

4. 4. Export your files first

   1. Download what you need from box.com or copy it out of Box Drive before the term ends
