Acuity Text Message Reminders Not Sending

Workaround available Web, iOS, Android Updated October 21, 2026

Quick answer

Texts only go to clients who opted in, require the Standard plan or higher, and are blocked in some countries. Confirm opt-in, the phone number on the appointment, and that the related confirmation email is active.

Most likely fix: Confirm plan and opt-in.

Symptoms

Clients don't receive SMS reminders, or the admin doesn't get confirmation texts.

Why it happens

  • Client didn't opt in to text messages
  • Starter plan (SMS starts on Standard)
  • Destination country blocks Acuity texts (e.g. some countries in Asia, Middle East, Caribbean)
  • Wrong or badly formatted phone number on the appointment
  • Admin confirmation texts stop when the matching confirmation email is set to inactive

How to fix it

Try these in order — the most common fix is first.

  1. 1. Confirm plan and opt-in

    1. Check you're on Standard or Premium
    2. Open the appointment and confirm the client opted in to texts
  2. 2. Fix the phone number

    1. Open the appointment details
    2. Correct the client phone number, including country code for non-US/Canada numbers
  3. 3. Re-activate the confirmation email

    1. Open client email settings for the appointment type
    2. Set the confirmation email to active so the matching admin text sends
  4. 4. Check country support

    1. Review Acuity's supported-countries list for text messages
    2. Fall back to email reminders for blocked countries
