LastPass Autofill Not Working

Symptoms

The LastPass icon doesn't appear in login fields, nothing fills when you pick an entry, only the username fills, or autofill stopped right after a browser or extension update.

Why it happens

  • 'Automatically fill login information' turned off in the extension
  • Site added to the Never Autofill list
  • Extension logged out or corrupted after an update
  • Browser update broke the extension (Chrome 147 in April 2026)
  • Page loaded over plain HTTP, where LastPass won't autofill
  • Browser's own password manager competing for the field

How to fix it

Try these in order — the most common fix is first.

  1. 1. Turn autofill back on

    1. Click the LastPass extension icon and open Account options > Extension preferences
    2. Under General, enable 'Automatically fill login information'
    3. Save and reload the login page

  2. 2. Remove the site from Never Autofill

    1. Open the extension's preferences or your vault settings
    2. Find the Never URLs / Never Autofill list
    3. Delete the site and reload the page

  3. 3. Toggle 'Use improved save and fill'

    1. Open Extension preferences > Advanced
    2. Turn off 'Use improved save and fill' (some users report this brings autofill back)
    3. Reload the page and test

  4. 4. Reinstall the extension

    1. Remove LastPass from your browser's extensions page
    2. Clear browser cache and restart the browser
    3. Install the latest LastPass extension from the browser's store and log in again

  5. 5. Check LastPass status after browser updates

    1. Visit status.lastpass.com to see if a browser-compatibility incident is open
    2. Until it's fixed, copy the password from the extension or web vault, or try another browser

  6. 6. Disable the browser's built-in password manager

    1. In browser settings, turn off 'Offer to save passwords' and address/password autofill
    2. Reload the page so only LastPass offers to fill
