Keeper Browser Extension Not Working

Workaround available Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari, Opera, Brave Updated October 21, 2026

Quick answer

If the Keeper extension won't open, shows an error after an update, or behaves strangely, re-accept its permissions, clear its storage from Extension options, and reinstall it if needed.

Most likely fix: Re-enable the extension's permissions.

Symptoms

Extension icon greyed out or shows an error, extension disabled after an update, blank popup, or vault won't load in the extension.

Why it happens

  • Browser disabled the extension after an update that requested new permissions
  • Corrupted local storage or IndexedDB
  • Conflict with the browser's password manager
  • Outdated extension version

How to fix it

Try these in order — the most common fix is first.

  1. 1. Re-enable the extension's permissions

    1. If the browser shows that Keeper was disabled or needs permissions, click 'Turn on' or 'Accept permissions'
  2. 2. Clear the extension's storage

    1. Go to your browser's Extensions page and select Keeper Password Manager & Digital Vault
    2. Click Extension options
    3. Choose Clear all storage (or local storage / IndexedDB), then log in again
  3. 3. Update or reinstall the extension

    1. Remove the Keeper extension
    2. Reinstall it from Keeper's download page or your browser's extension store
    3. Log in and re-enable Stay Logged In if you use it
  4. 4. Send debug info to support

    1. Open the Web Vault in Chrome, open View > Developer > Developer Tools
    2. Log in and check the Console tab for red errors
    3. Screenshot or copy them into a Keeper support ticket
