Keeper Keeps Logging Me Out

Workaround available Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari, Web Vault, Desktop App, Android Updated October 21, 2026

Quick answer

By default Keeper logs you out whenever the browser closes or the computer restarts. Turn on Stay Logged In and set a longer Inactivity Logout Timer in Settings > Security, in both the extension and the Web Vault.

Most likely fix: Enable Stay Logged In in the browser extension.

Symptoms

You must enter your master password every time you open the browser, after a restart, or every few days even after enabling Stay Logged In.

Why it happens

  • Stay Logged In is off by default
  • Short Inactivity Logout Timer
  • Business admin policy limits session length
  • Browser clearing site data or extension storage on exit

How to fix it

Try these in order — the most common fix is first.

  1. 1. Enable Stay Logged In in the browser extension

    1. Click the Keeper extension > options icon > Settings > Security
    2. Enable 'Stay Logged In Between Sessions'
    3. Set the Inactivity Logout Timer to a longer duration (minutes, hours or days)
  2. 2. Enable Stay Logged In in the Web Vault or Desktop App

    1. Click your account email (top right) > Settings > Security
    2. Turn 'Stay Logged In' on
    3. Set the Auto-Logout timer to the duration you want
  3. 3. Enable it on Android

    1. Open Keeper > Settings
    2. Toggle 'Stay Logged In' on (applies to all your devices)
  4. 4. Check your company's policy

    1. If the toggle is greyed out or keeps resetting, your Keeper Administrator has limited it
    2. Ask the admin to allow Stay Logged In or extend the timeout for your role
  5. 5. Stop the browser wiping extension data

    1. Make sure the browser isn't set to clear cookies and site data on close
    2. Don't run cleanup tools that clear extension storage
